When in the shock of waking, I am a silkworm. Blinking
back an after-image of a Hokkaido mountain range I've never seen.
I imagine the pulsed halo when the substation blew.
This is how all transitions are, a burrowing.
Even though no one sees it happen, or because of it.
A cherry blossom bursts out in the mountains.
In a vast, unintended moment it fills the sky.
Only in blind worm-acts is silk ever made.
We are surprised when the winter holds on like a silence.
We are surprised when light bursts forth from the Earth.
When, on a slope full of cherry trees, it all collapses.
We move into a slow awareness we hope we

All we do is dig,
keep our shovels moving.
Move earth, mound it up,
carve it with dull blades
of prayer. You don’t need faith
to move a mountain;
You make it something else,
something less real.
Something you couldn’t believe
unless you laid your hands on it.
This was what my father taught me
that God meant. That the real test
was the labor of Isaac,
how he must have known
that we build our deaths
on obedience—we work
though, as the ram works to free itself
from the thicket. In these ditches
we dig out foundations,
we dig paths for water, we dig
basements, places for underpinning,
we dig out trench

This was the first scene we filmed (and the most complicated).

When we made this movie I apparently had never heard of a circular polarizer, which this shot desperately needed.
Regardless, if you feel saucy you can offer your opinion on how we pulled off this stunt.
(again, that is me)

It was cold. I think it was Michael's idea that Jack be barefoot all the time.

I felt pretty helpless primarily because I usually like to do all the filming, but it's hard for me to have any input on the composition, shutter, aperature, etc. when I'm hanging in a tree. Even when I'm in the scene I can usually give good camera directions to the person filming. It was really hard to visualize how the scene would come out. I had to trust about 4 different people to get the shot taped right.

And yeah, it was pretty eerie. I have some great b-roll footage of me struggling as if I was actually being hung. hehe. I can be a little morbid. But, I don't suppose anybody could be in the situation and not think a little morbidly.

i just watch this art program on TV and it had some films makes in it.... im tempted to try

try to make a film
or try to fake hang yourself?

I would recommend the former without reservation.
I would recommend the latter with a good deal of reservation.

Part of the rope is tied to the overalls?
The shoulders look all hunched, so I imagine there's something going on in that area. Only a guess though.
Or you could've filmed the fellow in a room & the tree outside & CG'd them together, though that sounds like a ton of work.
